Tucked away on the Capricorn Coast near Emu Park was once a sleepy seaside community called Zilzie. Today this township is hardly recognizable to those who used to play here as children. It is a sprawling metropolis full of homes, buses, businesses, sports fields, retirement homes and more. Only the beach remains the same and the beautiful islands offshore. Mother McGregor still stands regally a few hundred meters opposite Zilzie beach as a reminder to us of past fishing exploits and overnight camps.
